Oral history with composer David Schiff, who speaks at length about his opera, Gimpel the Fool (1975). Schiff details the process of creating the libretto from Isaac Bashevis Singer's short story, and why he chose this text to begin with, along with some of the musical influences in composing the music. He ends by talking about some recent projects, especially in regard to Jewish music and opera.
