Lyrics

Poem: Avraham Reisen
Sung in Yiddish

The flower is a month old,
The butterfly but a day—
Well, he flies to her
And jabbers out everything….

I am departing the world soon,
I have lived too long!
I have many comrades,
I lived in joy, in song….

And I carried on affairs
With every flower and leaf….
Now it is already night,
I feel somewhat dull….

O you, be the last
And also give your love….
And when I part from you,
Remember me for a long time, remember!

Poem: Avraham Reisen

di blum a khoydesh alt,
a tog der shmeterling—
nu, flit er tsu tsu ir
un plaplt oys altsding…

ikh gey bald fun der velt;
gelebt hob ikh tsu lang!
genosn hob ikh fil,
gelebt in freyd, gezang…

un liberay gefirt
mit yeder blum un blat
atsind iz dokh shoyn nakht,
ikh fil mikh etvos mat.

o du, di letste zay
un oykh dayn libe shenk,
un ven ikh shtarb bay dir,
gedenk mikh lang, gedenk!
