The Prophecy of Isaiah: V’haya b’aḥarit hayyamim was written to celebrate the opening of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem in 1925 and was dedicated to that event. It is constructed on variant motifs of a traditional cantillation for the Haftara—the biblical prophetic readings as rendered in synagogue services—which then expand into a free emotional and expressive statement. There is also an instrumental version for violin and piano.
