Viglid 02:09

Liner Notes

Viglid is a simple lullaby by the poet Wolf Younin that is also a heartfelt prayer for peace in the world—especially for the sake of the child’s life.

Lyrics

Poet: Wolf Younin

Ay-lyu-lyu, my lamb, my little one,
Sleep, dear, sleep.
The leaves on the trees are already sleeping;
And in the stable, the tired sheep.

Sleep is more delicious than challah.
Close your eyes, quickly.
Tomorrow Father will order new shoes
For you and all the children

In your sleep may your dreams bring to you
All that you desired,
So long as there is but peace in the world.
Close your eyes, my precious.
